the openal repository has given me 10 failed fetches over 24 hours
didnt see one in dlc got another source home?

What do you mean?
Sources at http://dlc.openindiana.org/oi-userland/source-archives/ are archive copies, which are resynced from build server. So if build server has fetched source successfully, it'll be available for oi-userland (it uses dlc archive mirror as last resort).
